Our Leadership

Katie Koon, CAE

Katie Koon, CAE, is an experienced association professional who has worked with national, statewide, and local associations for more than 20 years.

Katie began her career as staff support for another AMC in South Carolina. She quickly rose to fill the role of Executive Director for various trade and professional associations and continued to provide support for other clients. In 2009, Katie earned her Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential, awarded by the American Society of Association Executives. The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry. Less than five percent of all association professionals have earned the CAE.

She is a 2001 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications.

Melanie Friscoe

Melanie serves as an Account Executive, working as the lead contact for clients. She has experience in communications, public relations and marketing for national and international organizations, including National Franchisee Association and Soroptimist International of the Americas. She has used her skill set to work as a freelance writer and editor as well. Melanie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.

Karen Trunk

With a Bachelor of Arts from College of Charleston, Beacon’s Director of Events Karen Trunk coordinates logistics for client association meetings, special events and annual conferences. She spent approximately 10 years with Winthrop University working in the Development Office and finally the Athletic Department, serving as the Eagle Club Membership Coordinator and Donor Assistant. Karen planned numerous events for the Eagle Club and coordinated fundraising efforts.

Jayne Baker

Jayne Baker serves as Marketing and Communications Director.  

Jayne earned a Bachelor of Science from Clemson University and a Masters in Management from Southern Wesleyan University.  She has 20 years of experience in public relations and marketing. She previously worked for a non-proft organization in the tourism and travel industry.

As Marketing and Communications Director she works directly with clients’ Board of Directors to ensure that ongoing communications, promotions, and news alerts are created and sent to members as well as executing content for social media and online. 

Jackie Adamson

Jackie serves as Beacon’s Director of Member Services coming from a career in international trade, transportation, insurance and economic development. She served and led multiple boards nationally and internationally. Her board and committee experience over a 40 year span includes Government Affairs with chairing the PAC of the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America, Inc. Because of her experience and networking strengths, Jackie brings a unique perspective to her role.
